Buses run daytime only. Please check times directly with Stagecoach. The 57A and 57C buses go through KIlmuir from Portree.

What time should I arrive?

Friday evening events in Kilmuir begin at 7pm.
Saturday events begin at 12 noon with lunch and events are programmed to run throughout the afternoon. Please join us when you can.
The evening begins at 5:30 with a community meal followed by Còmhradh | Conversation at 6:30pm.
If you’re just here for the dancing then the Ceol | Music | Muisic kicks off at 8pm.

Should I eat before I come?
This is Kilmuir! The hospitality is renowned! On the Friday evening we’ll be serving cheese and wine so you may want to have your tea before you come (unless cheese and wine is your regular tea – no judgement here!)
Saturday’s Soup & Pudding runs from 12-1pm (with some literary nourishment) so you’re sorted for lunch.
Food will be served in the evening between 5:30 and 6:30pm. Cake will be on the go all night. If you have specific dietary requirements you can contact us directly to discuss.

Will there be dancing?
Of course! ‘Official’ dance opportunities will be available on the Saturday evening with music from the wonderful Eilidh MacKenzie and chairdean.
You’re welcome to dance throughout the feis whenever the floor is free…you’ll not be the first to take the floor!
Don’t worry if you don’t remember your dances from school, there will be plenty of people on hand to remind you of the steps…and getting it wrong is half the fun anyway is it not?!

Where can I stay?
If you’re travelling for Sgrìobh and are looking for accomodation within walking distance of the hall search for locations in Kilmuir, Trotternish but do check on a map as Kilmuir covers quite a large area!
Accommodation of varying types is available across Skye. The island is very popular particularly during Spring/Summer and we recommend booking in advance.
More information about accommodation is available from Visit Scotland or drop us an email.

Should I bring cash?
Wifi is limited at the venue so we recommend bringing cash to pay for the evening events and to buy any books that catch your eye!
There is limited space available for authors to bring their own titles for sale. Please contact us if you’d like to chat about bringing books.

When does it all end?
Oh how we wish we could say never! Friday evenings events will wind up around 10pm. Saturday night runs a little later.
Please note that there will be no buses running at this time and taxis are very limited locally so please try to arrange transport in advance.
